Brennan Johnson is now leading the way in the Premier League in one key metric

According to DataMB, no wide player in the Premier League is as good at winning offensive duals as Brennan Johnson is.

While most of Tottenham’s new additions from last summer have had an outstanding start to their careers at the North London club, the same cannot be said of Johnson.

The 22-year-old looked a little rusty in his first few months at the club and has taken some time to get used to the demands of Ange Postecoglou’s system.

However, over the past few weeks, there are clear signs that the Welshman is starting to settle into his new surroundings and he has showcased some of the attributes that convinced Spurs to part ways with £47.5m to bring him to the club.

On Saturday, the winger came on just past the hour mark and provided two assists as Tottenham turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 win.

Brennan Johnson’s impressive Premier League stats

The stats from DataMB suggest that Johnson has not received the credit his performances have deserved this season.

According to the data analysis platform, the Spurs man ranks number one among all the wingers in the Premier League in terms of percentage of offensive duals won (59 per cent).

In addition, the former Forest star also has the second-best dribble success rate of any wide player in the division, with only Palace’s Michael Olise (69 per cent) ahead of him.

Spurs Web Opinion

While one can understand why some fans expect more of Johnson, given the fee that the club paid for him, it is undeniable that the winger’s ceiling is huge.

He has demonstrated a few times already this season that he will be an absolute nightmare to play against when he is high on confidence.
