Brennan Johnson names his surprise pick for the ‘unsung hero’ at Tottenham

There are many big names at Tottenham Hotspur, many of whom receive praise on the regular from fans and pundits alike. But what about those players who quietly do a great job, perhaps behind the scenes? Well, Brennan Johnson has recognised the work of his unsung hero at the club.

When asked about the biggest and most influential names at Tottenham, you’re likely to think of players like Heung-min Son, James Maddison, Cristian Romero. After all, they are the triumvirate elected to head up Ange Postecoglou‘s leadership group at the club.

But, any team, or indeed the club as a whole, can only succeed with the hard work of many. Whether that be on the pitch or off it, there are important players throughout the Tottenham squad right now, who are helping to make the place a positive environment.

Fraser Forster is a legend behind-closed-doors

It seems that Fraser Forster may well be more important than many suspect, in that regard. Or at least, that’s what Brennan Johnson thinks of the Spurs number two keeper.

Speaking on The Official Tottenham Hotspur Podcast, Johnson was asked who his unsung hero at Tottenham was, either a player or someone working at the club. And Forster was his answer.

Johnson said: “Oh that’s a tough one… Fraser. He’s an unbelievable guy. I sit with him in the changing room and he’s the type of guy you need in the changing room, so much experience and makes the lads laugh so much.

“You can put too much pressure on yourself sometimes but then you look at him and he just makes you laugh. He’s just a legend.”

Forster has been around the block and has plenty of game experience and life experience, and it’s great that he can use his position to help the younger players in the dressing room. It just goes to show that you don’t have to be playing to have an impact on the team.
