Brentford boss reveals when ex-Spurs star Christian Eriksen will make debut

Thomas Frank has confirmed former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen will make his debut for Brentford against Newcastle on Saturday, according to Jay Harris of The Athletic.

Eriksen has not played a competitive game since suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020 last summer.

The 30-year-old has been stepping up his return to action for the Bees in recent weeks, participating in behind-closed-doors matches against Southend and Rangers earlier this month (Evening Standard).

Brentford boss Frank has now confirmed that Eriksen will make his debut for the club tomorrow afternoon when Newcastle roll into West London.

He said in his press conference ahead of the game (via The Athletic): “Christian will be in the squad and he will get on the pitch tomorrow. It’s a big day for all of us but especially Christian and his family.”

Frank has not revealed whether the playmaker will earn a starting berth or have to settle for a spot on the bench, to begin with.

Brentford currently sit 14th in the Premier League and are just four points above the relegation zone.

Eriksen’s return is massive for himself and the football world and he has defied all the odds to make it all possible. Hopefully, it all goes smoothly for him because he is such a great footballer to watch when he is at his best.
