Brentford star names Spurs man as toughest opponent he has faced this season

Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt has named Tottenham forward Heung-min Son as the toughest opponent he has faced this season.

Son has been in rich form throughout the campaign and sits as Spurs’ top scorer in the Premier League with 21 goals – with none coming from the penalty spot.

The South Korean is chasing down Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah ahead of the final day clash at Norwich, which could secure Spurs a place in the Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, Janelt has featured prominently for Brentford in their first season in the Premier League, helping the Bees into a comfortable mid-table position.

The German was asked to reflect on his campaign, at which point he was pressed on who his toughest opponent had been.

He named Son and alluded to his ‘brutal’ combination with strike partner Harry Kane, after the pair broke the division’s record for most goals combined earlier this year (Independent).

Janelt told SportBuzzer: “I think very highly of Heung-min Son from Tottenham.

“The way he combines with Harry Kane is brutal. He has an incredible drive, is technically strong, one-on-one and on crosses, can shoot with his right and left foot. For me, he is the complete player.”

Son has taken his game up a level this season and he has really stepped up into being more clinical in front of goal.

The second half of the season has shown just how ruthless he is with his pace from the wide areas adding to how tricky he is to contend with.
