Brentford striker Ivan Toney makes confident prediction on Christian Eriksen’s future

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has confidently predicted that he believes Christian Eriksen will still be at the club next season.

The 30-year-old joined the Premier League newcomers in January on a six-month deal until the end of the campaign, completing a remarkable return to football just seven months after suffering a cardiac arrest while competing for Denmark at Euro 2020.

Eriksen has been in impressive form since returning to the Premier League, helping the Bees to move twelve points clear of the relegation zone following their 2-0 win against West Ham United at the weekend.

Toney appeared confident that the Dane will continue to turn out at the Brentford Community Stadium next season.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the playmaker, who departed north London in January 2020 for Inter Milan and are said to have shown the most interest in the player along with Manchester United (iNews).

Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots admitted last week that he was not surprised that questions were being asked about his future given his levels of performance but it purely focused on the job in hand at Brentford this season (BT).

Toney told the Evening Standard when asked if he would like to continue to play with Eriksen: “I am sure he will be here, let’s see what happens.”

Eriksen has already proven this season he still has what it takes to be an elite top flight player, whether he will reward Brentford for their loyalty in giving him the opportunity to return to England or whether he will be lured by the temptation of playing for Spurs once more remains to be seen.
