Brighton boss reacts to Mac Allister being linked with the likes of Tottenham

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has said that he is delighted to see Alexis Mac Allister being linked with the likes of Tottenham as it shows that he has a valuable player at his disposal.

Mac Allister was one of the unlikely heroes of Argentina’s historic World Cup triumph, with the midfielder delivering a particularly impressive display on the night of the final against France.

Unsurprisingly, the 25-year-old’s future has been the subject of much speculation on the back of his heroics in Qatar, with L’Interista reporting a few days ago that the likes of Tottenham, Juventus and Inter Milan are eyeing a move for the midfielder.

CalcioMercatoWeb.it also reported on Spurs’ interest in Mac Allister earlier this week, stating that Antonio Conte had been impressed by the midfielder even before his performances at the World Cup while AS subsequently claimed the Seagulls star is also on the radars of Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

However, far from being concerned about the speculation, De Zerbi has said that it is a positive sign that so many top clubs want a Brighton player.

When asked about Mac Allister being linked with some of the aforementioned clubs, the 43-year-old told The Mirror: “It’s fantastic news for us. When there are other teams who want our players, we have to be proud and we have to be happy. It’s not a problem.

“When you coach such good players, the other clubs look at them. I am not worried if we sell these players. You have to be worried about replacing them with other strong players. I hope the club can grow up and next season we don’t lose many players.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like De Zerbi is fairly confident that Mac Allister is not going to leave the Amex Stadium any time soon. Brighton are certainly not going to allow the midfielder to leave on the cheap, given that the club have the option to extend the 25-year-old’s contract until 2026 (Transfermarkt).
