Some Tottenham fans cannot help but get excited by Gareth Bale’s latest admission that he wants to play regular football, while refusing to rule out a Premier League return.
As with almost every transfer window, the Welshman has been linked with a return to Tottenham, with reports suggesting that Daniel Levy might make another approach to bring him back to North London (El Espanyol).
Spurs fans may understandably be sceptical of these rumours, with some having given up on the idea of the 31-year-old ever returning to his old stomping ground.
However, it would appear that Bale has no way back into the Madrid first-team having fallen out with Zinedine Zidane, with reports indicating that Los Blancos are desperate to move him on this summer (Marca).
The former Tottenham star has now said in an interview with Sky Sports that he feels fit and is keen to play football but any transfer away would depend on Real Madrid.
While some Spurs fans are still refusing to buy into the possibility, Bale’s revelation in the interview was enough to get many dreaming that he could potentially come back.
Right fuck it @Ben_Davies33 get in your mates ear and tell him he is still loved at Tottenham and we would welcome him back with open arms #COYS

Nice to see Bale finally speak out about actively wanting to leave Madrid. The key word is he wants to be “appreciated.” Call me a dreamer but I think he knows the club that would appreciate him more than any other is Tottenham. Bring him home!!!

Right got it in my head that were getting Bale.

I think there is zero chance we bring Bale back. No way Madrid subsidise his wages enough for us & no way we can afford him. However it’s a signing that would put a cherry on this very practical smart window & I believe give the whole club a boost. #BringBackBale #THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/HeoUGTWowF

Don’t think it’s any secret that Levy has been in contact with Madrid the past couple of years and would welcome Bale back with open arms. It’s purely a case of the financial package and whether it can be worked around, which for Spurs is unlikely https://t.co/6EFh0atQUo

For me when they mentioned the premier league Bale seemed to reply respectfully but didn’t seem to want to jump at the chance. He will end up in America imo no one in Europe will pay him what he wants and it sure as hell won’t be spurs.

Spurs Wen Opinion
31 is certainly not too old considering what Ronaldo and Messi have been able to do over the last few years but the worry with Bale is his injury record. Having said that, he has played very little football over the past few years and perhaps his body might have had time to recover. I would not rule out us making a late bid to sign him this summer.
Have something to tell us about this article?
NO. No. No! – Bale is a problem for RM. There is no reason to bail out (Bale out) RM.
He is a grossly overpaid malcontent with very little career time left. He would have a negative impact if he returned to Spurs. Let him sttay at RM and collect his salary until he retires to golf.
