Bruce makes Hutton his summer priority

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has made signing Alan Hutton on a permanent basis his number one priority for the summer.

Hutton joined the Black Cats on loan in January and has impressed down the right-hand side, assisting Frazier Campbell’s goal against Burnley on Saturday.

The Scot’s performances have seen Sunderland move away from the drop zone and Bruce is hoping that he is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane and might be able to sign him up permanently.

“We’ll do our utmost (to sign him). We’ve got respect to Tottenham and see if they want to sell him.

“He’s been fantastic since he’s come here. He gives you so much going forward, so we’ll see what develops. I’d love to make it a permanent move if I could. He’s been excellent.”

Newcastle have also been linked with a bid in the summer.
