Bruno Fernandes’ ex-teammate says player was thinking about summer 2020 Spurs move

It has now been revealed by Yannick Bolasie that Bruno Fernandes was previously thinking about a summer 2020 move to Tottenham Hotspur, rather than a Man United transfer.

Bruno Fernandes was subject of much speculation from both Man United and Spurs back in the transfer window of summer 2019, but remained at Sporting Lisbon (Mirror).

It was later revealed that Tottenham had actually made a bid for the attacking midfielder, but it had not been deemed to be attractive enough by the Portuguese club (Standard).

Bruno Fernandes himself said that Spurs was the only club he had agreed to talk to that window, as they made a serious effort to sign him (Record).

However, no transfer was agreed and the attacker later made a move to the Red Devils in the January window, with Spurs signing Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis.

Bolasie, who move to Sporting on loan from Everton last summer, has now hinted that a change of manager at Spurs may have changed Fernandes’ plans.

He said (Mirror): “He was thinking about going to Tottenham in the summer but I think when the manager went that changes a lot of things.”
