Tottenham attacker may have suffered a season-ending injury – but he is out on loan

One Tottenham Hotspur attacker, who has been having an extremely impressive season out on loan, could have played his last game of the campaign, his manager has confirmed.

A number of Tottenham Hotspur’s younger players are impressing out on loan in the EFL, but one senior man has also been making waves away from English football.

Bryan Gil has been one of Girona’s most consistent players so far this season, with the 24-year-old even managing to force himself back into the Spanish national side on the back of his impressive displays at the Estadi Montilivi.

However, disaster appears to have struck for the winger, who has now suffered a serious injury.

Girona manager delivers bad news on Gil injury

Mundo Depertivo say that the Spurs winger has suffered a ‘serious knee injury’ and will soon undergo tests to assess if he requires surgery.

The publication also quotes Girona head coach Michel Sanchez, who confirms that the Spain international could be ruled out of the rest of the season if he does go under the knife.

Sanchez said: “Bryan, as I said, has a knee injury and tomorrow he must speak to Dr. Cugat. We will see if an operation is necessary or not. If he has to have surgery, he could miss the entire season.

“But if not, this Sunday will be the last tests and we will see. Cugat will make the decision with the players. It doesn’t look good, although I think there is still a lack of evidence.”

How will this injury affect Bryan Gil’s chances of leaving Tottenham?

Girona have a €15m (£12.4m) option to buy Gil permanently at the end of the season, and one would expect the option to be activated.

However, it was suggested last month that Girona could ask Tottenham for a discount on Gil in the summer, given that the winger would be into the final year of his contract at the end of this season.

If the former Sevilla man does not kick a ball again this season, one would certainly expect the La Liga club to try and secure the wide man on a cut-price fee.
