Bryan Gil reveals what Tottenham told him before loan move to Valencia

Bryan Gil has admitted he is happy with his decision to join Valencia on loan and the move only came about because Tottenham wanted him to get more game time under his belt.

Gil, who joined Spurs from Sevilla last summer, secured a switch to Valencia until the end of the season after struggling to break into contention under Antonio Conte.

The 21-year-old winger has managed to rekindle his form on his return to the Spanish top-flight, with Valencia now thought to be keen on extending his stay at the Mestalla into the new campaign (90min).

He recently revealed to AS that he had trouble adapting to life in England, including the physicality of the Premier League, but he planned to persevere and ‘get used to it’ down the line (Marca).

Gil has now opened up on the reasons behind his move to Valencia, to which he explained that Tottenham wanted to see him clock up more minutes out on the pitch.

He said (via Jonathan Veal): “Tottenham said they’d like to see me get games under my belt.

“Things have gone pretty well since I arrived and I’m very happy. It was a great decision to come here. I wanted to get games and I thought I’d get the chance here.”

Gil seems to be enjoying his spell at Valencia which should give him some confidence heading into next season – either on loan again or back at Spurs.

You can see that he is very talented but also very raw, but the more he plays the more he should be able to square his game off as a winger.
