Bryan Gil talks favourite position, idols, Kane, best mate at Spurs, Beatles hair and more

Bryan Gil had plenty to say in his first press conference as a Tottenham Hotspur play this afternoon ahead of the upcoming Europa Conference League match against Mura.

Gil was signed this summer for £21.6m plus Erik Lamela, who went the other way and joined La Liga club, Sevilla.

While he has only been handed cameos in the Premier League, Gil has already impressed fans and has earned starts in the Conference League and Carabao Cup.

The 20-year-old has now revealed that his preferred position is on the left wing but he is willing and able to adapt to any position handed to him by Nuno Espirito Santo.

The new Tottenham recruit also gave replies to questions on his best friend at Spurs, Harry Kane, his Beatles style haircut, and moving to North London this summer.

On joining Spurs, Gil said (Football London): “Of course it has been a very significant challenge to make the move and one that my family and I decided together.”

On who has helped him most, he said: “As you can imagine, Reggy has been helping me so much here. He was one of the first to call me.”

On his favourite position, he said: “My favourite position is the left-winger but I can adapt to any position the manager tells me.”

On his Beatles hair, he said: “I have been having this hairstyle since I was 10 years old. I don’t like to get it cut. People have said it’s because of The Beatles but it’s not because of that. I’ll keep it until I get bored of it.”

On Harry Kane, he said: “Harry Kane is a great player and he is a natural goalscorer and I hope that I can help him score many more goals.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Gil seems like a likeable character and will only improve as he bulks up, learns the language and gets more Premier League minutes. There is a very raw star in there, he just needs to be coached in the right way.
