Bundesliga club don’t want to sell reported Spurs target this summer – Journalist

Rudy Galetti has handed Tottenham a blow in their pursuit of Piero Hincapie by revealing that Bayer Leverkusen wish to hold on to the centre-back.

It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Ange Postecoglou wishes to add another centre-back to his squad in the summer, with Hincapie recently mooted as a target for the Lilywhites.

SportBild (via Sport Witness) claimed earlier this month that Tottenham are admirers of the Ecuador International and suggested that Leverkusen may let the defender leave if Jonathan Tah stays put at BayArena.

This information was also backed up by journalist Christian Falk, who told CaughtOffside last week that Spurs are plotting a move for Hincapie and asserted that the Bundesliga champions would be willing to sell the player for around €40m (£34.5m) this summer.

Leverkusen do not want to sell Piero Hincapie

Galetti has now taken to social media to assert that Atletico Madrid have also entered the race for Hincapie by approaching Leverkusen regarding a deal for the player.

However, he contradicts Bild’s and Falk’s claims by stating that Xabi Alonso’s men do not intend to sell the 22-year-old this summer.

Having managed to retain Alonso, Leverkusen would want to mount another title charge next season and would not want to weaken their squad.

However, Hincapie has not been a regular in their starting eleven this season and they might be tempted to cash in on the centre-back if they receive a sufficiently large offer.
