Bundesliga club praise Spurs man Hojbjerg and mock Arsenal star on social media

FC Augsburg have taken to social media to mock Arsenal and praise Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after the Tottenham midfielder helped his side to a 2-0 win in the North London Derby on Sunday.

While Hojbjerg was handed his debut by Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich when he was just 17 years of age, it was during his loan spell at Augsburg in 2015 that he first got regular games under his belt and started to make a real impression.

The Dane did not live up to his potential in Bavaria and eventually ended up signing for Southampton in 2016 where he went on to rebuild his career before Spurs snapped him up.

The 25-year-old has undoubtedly been one of the signings of the summer and has already established himself as an invaluable part of Tottenham’s midfield.

Hojbjerg once again put in a terrific performance in the North London Derby on Sunday and was a crucial part of Tottenham’s midfield battle against the Gunners.

In contrast, Granit Xhaka had a poor game for Mikel Arteta’s side as he failed to contribute much either defensively or going forward.

After Tottenham overcame Arsenal, Augsburg tweeted the following picture of Hojbjerg going up against Xhaka when the latter was playing for Borussia Monchengladbach, with the caption: ‘Made in Augsburg’

They also tweeted ‘respect us’ when a fan claimed that Xhaka was on Augsburg’s level.
