Burnley star linked with Spurs posts hint about his future on social media

Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet has posted a message on social media that seems to hint that he may remain at Turf Moor next season.

Cornet enjoyed an impressive first season in English football after arriving at Burnley from Lyon last summer, scoring nine goals in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

However, his efforts were not enough to help the Clarets to preserve their Premier League status as their relegation was confirmed on the final day of the season.

The Daily Mirror reported last week that Antonio Conte had identified the Ivory Coast international as a player who could bolster his attacking options this summer.

The Telegraph subsequently claimed Burnley’s relegation from the top-flight triggers a clause that would allow the winger to leave for £17.5m this summer, with West Ham United and Everton also said to have their eye on the winger.

Cornet has now taken to Instagram to post a message stating “we will rise again”, seemingly referring to his intention to help bring Burnley back to the Premier League.

Here is the full message that the 25-year-old posted:

I think the 25-year-old would be a fine replacement for Steven Bergwijn but the challenge for Spurs would be to convince the Ivorian that he will get sufficient game time in North London.
