Can Radu Dragusin play for Tottenham against Manchester United?

Radu Dragusin is on the verge of becoming a Tottenham Hotspur player, and all eyes will be on the Spurs squad for this weekend’s game against Manchester United to see whether the new signing will be in the starting line-up. But will he even be allowed to play?

After weeks of speculation, Tottenham look to have finally solved the lack of depth in their defensive area, with Radu Dragusin all but confirmed as a new Spurs player.

With Micky van de Ven just back from injury, and both Cristian Romero and Ben Davies a doubt due to injury, Spurs fans will be hoping the club’s latest signing will be ready in time for the weekend’s clash with Manchester United.

Fabrizio Romano’s most recent update confirmed the details of the deal to bring Dragusin to North London, with a £21.5m (plus £4.3m in add-ons) transfer arranged. However, at the time of writing, there was still no official announcement of the signing.

Can Radu Dragusin play for Spurs against Manchester United?

So, can Dragusin play on Sunday? Well, at this rate, it is going to go right down to the wire. The rules in the Premier League state that any new signing needs to be registered by midday on Friday, January 12 to play the weekend’s matches.

If Spurs are to announce Dragusin to the world on Thursday, January 11, then that should give them ample time to arrange the necessary paperwork and get the player lined up for Sunday’s game.

However, if any further delays take us into Friday, then there is a chance Dragusin won’t be ready. Plus, we have to consider the fact that he will need to train with his new teammates.

I can’t see the process taking much longer now, and I would imagine we will have Dragusin signed up and registered before the deadline. However, the lack of training time will be a concern, and I’m not sure Postecoglou will want to throw him into the starting line-up.
