Tottenham Hotspur yesterday made an announcement revealing the extent of Moussa Sissoko’s injury and it has left some fans panicking over the team’s prospects this season.
The club confirmed that the midfielder has undergone surgery to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee after injuring himself in Tottenham’s 1-0 loss against Southampton on New Year’s Day.
The club also revealed that the 30-year-old is not expected to be back until April, meaning that he will miss a crucial chunk of the season.
This news comes as the latest blow to a squad already struggling with injuries. Hugo Lloris, Danny Rose, Ben Davies and Harry Kane are out of action while club record signing Tanguy Ndombele also missed Spurs’ FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough with an injury.
Some Spurs fans called for Daniel Levy to dip into the transfer market this month in order to solve the injury issues while others feared that the season might already be a lost cause:
Terrible news. Moussa being out till April means WE NEED to buy another midfielder. The January window is still wide open and we need to be proactive in our business.

Shame about Sissoko. Must be serious – he once ran off a hamstring.

Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt that this comes as a massive blow because Sissoko has been instrumental in the double pivot Mourinho’s played due his energy to get up the pitch as well as cover back. With Ndombele’s apparent fragility, there is no question that we need to dip into the transfer market for a central midfielder this month.
