‘Can’t believe you have just said that’ – Presenter reacts to O’Hara’s Spurs prediction

Jamie O’Hara has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will pip West Ham United to the fourth spot this season and the North Londoners will also beat their local rivals in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

West Ham are having another very good season under David Moyes and currently sit in fourth place with 27 points.

However, Spurs are now in touching distance with the Hammers after their improved run of form since Antonio Conte’s arrived at the club.

The Lilywhites have won three and drawn one of Conte’s four league games in charge, which means that they currently sit just two points off West Ham with a game in hand.

Despite Moyes’ men beating Chelsea on Saturday, O’Hara believes that they will not finish above Spurs.

The former Tottenham midfielder said on talkSPORT (Mon, Dec 06, 2021): “I think Tottenham will finish above West Ham.

This prediction left host Laura Woods surprised, who responded with: “I can’t believe you have just said that.”

O’Hara then added: “Nor can I. But you have to back your team. I am backing my team.”

However, the pundit admitted that his old club have looked a lot shakier than West Ham have done so far this season. Despite this admission, he insisted the Lilywhites will get past the Hammers and book a place in the EFL Cup semifinal later this month.

When asked by Woods whether Spurs are as solid as West Ham appear to be, O’Hara said: “No, we are not.”

“I think we are capable of beating anyone. But I don’t think we are as solid as West Ham.

“What West Ham have shown is that they are a proper side. We are still too open.”

Speaking about the League Cup clash on December 23, he said: “Of course we are going to win – you are talking like West Ham are Liverpool.

“Come on, you have to back your side. Spurs will win a trophy this season and finish in the top four.”

Spurs Web Opinion

West Ham have certainly looked solid and I have been impressed with how David Moyes has set them up. However, the fact that they sit just two points ahead of us (having played a game more) is very telling.

This Spurs side is yet to hit their stride this season and are only going to improve under Conte. So, I believe we have a good chance of finishing above West Ham.

However, it remains to be seen if that would be enough to secure Champions League qualification. I believe Man Utd are likely to be our biggest competitors for the fourth spot.
