“Can’t even kick a marble” – Former Spurs midfielder blasts Man Utd players

Former Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has not been one to mince words since he became a football pundit.

The former White Hart Lane fan-favourite famously labelled Harry Maguire ‘sh*t’ last season and insisted he belonged in amateur football.

It looks like he is at it again, with the Manchester United midfielders and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being on the receiving end of his scorn this time around for the lack of game time for Donny van de Beek.

It was reported back in August that Spurs made a late attempt to hijack the Van de Beek deal but the midfielder decided on moving to Old Trafford instead.

The 23-year-old has since admitted that his international teammate Steven Bergwijn even texted him asking him if he would come to Spurs but he had his heart set on a move to United (Destentor).

Things have not worked out for the Dutch international at the Theatre of Dreams so far as he has found himself struggling to get game time.

That has not gone down well with Van der Vaart, who believes that the former Ajax man should be starting ahead of the other midfielders under Solskjaer’s disposal.

When asked about Van de Beek’s struggles at Old Trafford, the former Spurs midfielder told NOS (as relayed by The Mirror): “Wait? Patience? Would you like it if you are stuck on the bench?

“The players in front of you can’t even kick a marble and [Solskjaer] still does not put you in the team.

“I would not be happy. I would certainly not be enjoying my football there.

“Look at the player Donny is and how he performs at international level. I would not have it.”
