‘Can’t wait’ – Defender reacts after sealing move away from Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters has expressed his delight at joining Southampton on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Spurs confirmed yesterday that they had come to an agreement with the Saints to send Walker-Peters on loan until the summer.

The defender has hardly had any game time since the first few weeks of the season and has featured just once since the arrival of Jose Mourinho back in November.

With the full-back reported to be surplus to requirements at Tottenham, several clubs were said to be interested in signing him, including Crystal Palace and West Ham (Football Insider).

However, it was Southampton who won the race for the 22-year-old beating out competition from the aforementioned clubs.

The Spurs defender will likely replace Saints right-back Cedric Soares who has been backed to complete a move to Arsenal before the transfer window shuts (Football.London).

On sealing the move to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, the youngster took to social media to post the following message:

The defender also gave a more extensive interview with Southampton on YouTube:

Spurs Web Opinion

I think this is an excellent move for Walker-Peters as the style of football that Southampton play will suit him perfectly. He is also likely to get a lot of games with Cedric looking like he is leaving the club. Hopefully, he will prove in the south coast that he is good enough for the Premier League.
