‘Can’t wait to see what the future holds’ – Defender excited to remain in North London

Japhet Tanganga has taken to social media to reveal his delight at the way the season has gone for him.

The youngster capped off his breakthrough campaign in perfect fashion when he put pen to paper on a new five-year contract with the club.

It is fair to say that very few Spurs fans knew much about Tanganga at the start of the season prior to taking his place on the pre-season tour to the Far East and was handed his first Premier League appearance by Jose Mourinho in the Premier League clash against Liverpool in January.

The Spurs academy graduate repaid the Spurs boss’ faith by putting in a solid display when up against the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The youngster has not looked back since, proving his versatility and establishing himself as an important member of the squad only for a stress fracture of his back to stop him from making any further appearances since the restart of the season.

On the back of committing himself to the club until 2025, the defender took to Twitter to thank fans for their support

We have to remember the fact that Tanganga has only played a handful of games. We will only get an idea of what his true ceiling is when he has a full season under his belt. However, the early signs are promising as he seems to have both the technical and mental attributes needed to be a top defender. Having Ledley King work with him on his defending can only help the youngster’s game.
