Capello: I didn’t hear when Redknapp said that

Fabio Capello has insisted that Michael Dawson will have his part to play during England’s World Cup campaign.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was critical of Capello’s dealings with Dawson when he was originally axed from the 30-man squad.

Dawson trained this morning with the England squad just hours after landing in South Africa.

Capello said: “I didn’t hear when Redknapp said that. For me, all 30 players who stayed with me in Austria are important, really important for me.

“For this reason, he (Dawson) was one of the players. I know the value of these players because I chose them.

“Matthew Upson didn’t play (against Mexico or Japan) but he’s out here in the squad.

“For me, it was important to find out and learn about all the players as they trained together.

“It’s not important what other managers think about the players I’ve chosen. Dawson will be pleased to come here.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. King and Daws to start over Terry +1? I really bloody hope so!

I'm probably looking at this through lily-white tinted specs: they're great for us – so why not for England?

Rio is undoubtedly class and we'll miss him, but…

  2. Feel a bit gutted for Rio, but made up for Dawson. I did feel Capello could have given him a half somewhere before the axe. How are you goons feeling knowing for the next 7 weeks or so you’ll be cheering on players who play for all your rivals? You contribute nothing for this country whatsoever. I hope the media pick up this fact and publicly shames your club for it.

  3. Haha…Wes, well-said…………..Guess all the gooners (being a feeder club, located in London, for the French team), will support the French team…….Hahaha….

  4. A Goonless England bloody brilliant, need I say more , and no Walcott definitely didn't deserve to go, so highly over rated. Give me Daws over Ferdinand ans Terry any day. Come on ENGLAND
