Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison is among the best strikers in football at the moment (Corriere dello Sport 08/12/22 via Sport Witness).

Richarlison has been leading the line for Brazil at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, wearing that heavy number 9 shirt that has featured on the back of so many legends down the years.

However, it appears to be no pressure at all for the Spurs forward, who has netted three times at the tournament already, including arguably the two best goals we have seen in Qatar so far.

Ancelotti, who managed Richarlison for a short while during their time together at Everton, was full of praise for the Brazilian this week, even naming him alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

While Richarlison hasn’t hit the ground running in front of goal for Spurs since arriving in the summer, he has certainly won fans over with his high work rate and attacking flair.

Ancelotti said: “Something in between, right? He is a modern striker, complete, not up to his feet, but he has fantastic tempo in the box and is very coordinated. He’s not a giant, but his head is strong. He’s not the typical Brazilian striker, but I put him among the best around.”

He added: “We are in a transition phase, especially for the forwards. Ibra and Ronaldo are running out, Suarez, Cavani, Messi and Benzema are 35 years old, Lewandowski will make them next year.

“The new one is represented by Mbappé, Richarlison, Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Darwin Nuñez. I didn’t know Gonçalo Ramos.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m not sure I would be mentioning him in the same breath as Mbappe, but Richarlison is very talented. I am intrigued to see a Spurs line up with him as a 9 and Kane as a 10, although I doubt Conte would ever opt for that kind of formation.
