Carlos Vinicius backs Tottenham’s ‘perfect duo’ to win a trophy this season

Carlos Vinicius lavished praise on Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min this week, declaring that both of them deserve to win titles.

Vinicius did not get as many opportunities as he would have hoped for during his season-long loan spell at Spurs last campaign as he played second fiddle to Kane.

The striker did not do enough to convince Tottenham to take up the £36m option to sign him permanently at the end of last season.

The 26-year-old eventually completed a two-year loan move to PSV Eindhoven on transfer deadline day this summer, with the Dutch club having the option to make the deal permanent.

While the Brazilian might have not got as many minutes as he wanted at Spurs, he did get to witness the quality of Kane and Son first-hand.

The England captain finished last season with the most goals and assists in the Premier League while Son too enjoyed the most productive campaign of his career, with 22 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.

Vinicius spoke about how Kane and Son complement each other and backed both players to lift silverware this season.

The centre-forward told ESPN Brasil (as relayed by Sport Witness): “They (Kane and Son) make a perfect duo because one fits with the other.

“In terms of pairing, they are way ahead. What they need is only one title. Unfortunately, it hasn’t come yet, but this season they’ll bring it.

“They deserve it because they are for many years proving they have the quality to be champions. They are top-level players.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Several players in our squad have been extremely unfortunate not to have a single medal to show for their exploits over the last several years, given the level they have performed at.

The likes of Kane and Son certainly belong to that category, as do Dier and Lloris. Hopefully, unlike the likes of Toby, Jan, Dembele and Eriksen, they win a trophy before their time at the club comes to an end.
