Carragher names the one Spurs player who would get into Man City’s team

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has maintained an astonishing level of consistency since breaking into Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team back in 2014.

Fans have become so accustomed to the England captain’s goal-scoring prowess that they arguably take him for granted and he isn’t as appreciated as he deserves to be.

The Spurs academy graduate, who has scored 166 goals in 254 appearances for the Lilywhites (according to HITC), got off to a quick start in front of goal this campaign as he netted a brace to down Aston Villa last weekend.

The 26-year-old is also much more than a goal scorer and is very much an all-round striker who impacts the game even when he isn’t scoring.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has now waxed lyrical about the Spurs striker and suggested that he is the only player Mauricio Pochettino can’t afford to lose.

The former England defender also said that Kane was the only Spurs player that would get into Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning side.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Carragher said, “It is simply my belief that Kane is the one man in the squad Pochettino could not afford to lose in this window, or at any point in the last three years.

“Here is the truest measure of Kane’s class: Go through the respective line-ups of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City when they face up this weekend. Which Spurs player would be on Pep Guardiola’s shopping list?

“With Sergio Aguero now 31, I would be amazed if he is not the number one choice.”

I believe Kane has proven that he is undisputedly the world’s best number 9 at the moment. His love for the club will hopefully stop him from thinking about exploring greener pastures. If Tottenham can start winning trophies, then the club can certainly hang on to their talisman.
