Celtic line up Keane deal

Celtic are reportedly planning to make a move for Robbie Keane in January.

Keane has been out of favour recently, with the team’s form in recent games keeping him resigned to the bench.

And Tony Mowbray has been encouraged that Keane is no longer first choice and has sounded out a potential move to take Keane to Celtic Park.

Keane has struggled to hit the level of form he produced in his first spell at the club since returning from Liverpool in January and is currently being kept out by the Jermain Defoe – Peter Crouch combination.

Celtic are looking to bolster their strikeforce in order to strengthen their title push and potentially a European challenge next season.

They hope to land Keane on loan in January, with a possible permanent deal in the summer.

However, a major hitch is Keane’s wages, as they are far greater than any contract they currently have at the club.

Celtic’s financiers are looking at ways that they might be able to broker a deal however, with their interest in Keane being a long-standing one.
