Centre-back admits transfer links to likes of Spurs and Man Utd ‘bother’ him

Rumoured Tottenham target Kim Min-Jae has admitted that he is affected by the speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Kim has enjoyed a fabulous start to his career at Napoli since his summer switch to the club, with the South Korean’s solid displays being one of the main reasons for the Serie A table toppers’ impressive defensive record this season.

His performances at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium have reportedly caught the attention of several clubs, including Tottenham, who have been credited with an interest in the centre-back ahead of the January transfer window (CalcioMercatoWeb).

The Daily Mirror reported a few days ago that Manchester United and Real Madrid also have their eyes on the 26-year-old, with the Red Devils allegedly ready to pay the €50m (£43.4m) release clause in the centre-back’s contract.

The report added that Luciano Spalletti’s men are desperate to keep hold of Kim and are already preparing an improved contract for the player.

The former Fenerbahce man has now admitted that he is ‘bothered’ by the speculation over his future, which is why he hardly gives any interviews.

Kim told South Korean TV show You Quiz on the Block (as relayed by Calciomercato): “There are a lot of market stories around me. But it’s only been six months at Napoli. I avoid interviews and one of the reasons is that the rumours about (my future) bother me.”

If Kim had not been tempted by the prospect of a future Premier League move (or perhaps a move to a club like Real Madrid), his representatives would not have insisted on adding a release clause to his contract.

So, I suspect that the centre-back would not be in a hurry to sign a new deal with Napoli and would want to listen to potential offers that come his way in January.
