Spurs-linked defender reveals Premier League desire

Monaco defender Guillermo Maripan has admitted that he wants to play in the Premier League.

Maripan has had an impressive campaign in Ligue 1 this season after joining from Deportivo Alaves last summer.

Reports this week have indicated that Tottenham are set to move for the 26-year-old.

AS reported earlier this week that the centre-back could be set for a move to the Premier League after just one season at the French club and claimed that Spurs were interested in his signature, along with West Ham and Watford.

Todo Fichajes claimed that Jose Mourinho was ‘very interested’ in bringing the Chilean international to North London and suggested that the Lilywhites could land him for just €20 million this summer.

The defender has now revealed his intention to English top flight clubs after revealing that he wants to move to the Premier League.

When asked about the speculation surrounding his future, he told Al Aire Libre: “Personally, I have always liked the Premier League a lot.

“I have always wanted to play there, so I am aiming there.”

This move suddenly seems to be gathering pace this week with multiple outlets now backing us to make an approach for Maripan. While the Chilean looks like he has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League, there will be an element of risk involved given that he hasn’t experienced the pace and intensity of English football.
