CEO confirms Premier League clubs have approached him for Spurs-linked star

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has revealed that Premier League clubs have made approaches for rumoured Tottenham target Davide Frattesi.

Frattesi has carried on his form from 2021-22 and was one of the most impressive midfielders on show in the Serie A in the first part of this campaign, having found the back of the net four times in 15 league appearances (Transfermarkt).

The 25-year-old’s form is thought to have caught Tottenham’s eye, with Sassuolo News reporting back in October that Antonio Conte’s men were monitoring the central midfielder’s situation ahead of January.

TuttoMercatoWeb backed up Spurs’ interest in the midfielder, stating at the start of December that the Lilywhites face competition from both West Ham United and Brighton for the Sassuolo star.

AS Roma have also subsequently been credited with an interest in Frattesi, with Jose Mourinho alleged to have asked the Giallorossi hierarchy to snap up the player due to Georginio Wijnaldum’s injury (TMW).

Carnevali has now revealed that he has fielded queries from English clubs for the Italy international’s signature.

The Sassuolo CEO told Sky Sport Italia (as relayed by Fabrizio Romano) “We’ve been approached by Premier League clubs for Davide Frattesi. There are requests for him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It does not surprise me that Conte and Paratici have their eyes on Frattesi but I doubt if the North London club are looking at the 25-year-old as a target for January. Signing a right wing-back and another forward appear to be Conte’s priorities for next month.
