‘Certain’ – Star wanted by Paratici made transfer admission last month

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Jules Kounde has already admitted that he is ‘certain’ of leaving Sevilla this summer.

Over the last few days, there has been growing speculation linking Tottenham with a move for Kounde.

The 22-year-old has been a rock at the back for Julen Lopetegui’s side over the last two years and it does not come as a surprise that he is on Tottenham’s radar, given the North Londoners’ issues in central defence.

This week, both Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio backed Spurs to make a move for the Sevilla star while Spanish news outlet ABC have has also reported on Tottenham’s interest in the French international.

It remains to be seen whether the Lilywhites will be able to seal a deal for Kounde given how highly sought-after he is but it does appear to be clear that the centre-back will not be playing for Sevilla next season.

That is because Kounde himself admitted last month that he expects to leave the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium this summer.

Football.London quote the defender as having said: “Regarding my future, it’s certain that I will perhaps have to change clubs this summer.

“But nothing has been finalised yet. I have not decided anything.

“My goal is to play for a big club, to try to always progress and to win trophies. It’s true that I might have to move but that’s not relevant today.”

Kounde looks destined to evolve into one of the top central defenders in Europe over the next few years. He is very much a modern-day centre-back, who is very good at defending one vs one situations and composed in possession.

However, there will likely be plenty of competition for his signature after the season he has had. I would expect him to cost around £40- £50m and I would not be surprised if Spurs went for a cheaper option like Joachim Andersen instead.
