No chance of Spurs signing Andy Carroll

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton has described speculation linking Andy Carroll with a move to Tottenham as “silly rumours”.

Reports had claimed that Harry Redknapp was interested in signing the big striker in the January transfer window, but Hughton has moved to quash the talk.

Hughton told the Chronicle: “There is absolutely nothing in that whatsoever.

“I can’t make it any clearer. There’s nothing there for us to play down.

“He is completely settled here at Newcastle and loves the club.

“There is no point even thinking about silly rumours and it’s just transfer speculation.”
