Charlie Nicholas predicts how Spurs will get on against Aston Villa this weekend

Tottenham Hotspur are back in action on Sunday February 16 as the visit Aston Villa in the Premier League, looking to make it three wins on the bounce in the competition.

Spurs come into the match fresh off the back of a nice winter break, giving the squad time to rest and Mourinho time to implement more of his own style and tactics.

Tottenham should also be full of confidence as the last time they lost a match was against Liverpool in a narrow 1-0 result back on January 11th.

Since then, Spurs have beaten Middlesbrough, Norwich, Man City, and Southampton, as well as picking up a couple of draws in all competitions.

The Lilywhites are now sixth in the Premier League table, but have a game in hand on Sheffield United who are just two points ahead. Spurs are also only four behind Chelsea in fourth.

Charlie Nicholas has predicted that Spurs will make it three Premier League wins in a row on Sunday.

He said (Sky Sports): ‘It is needs must in the Premier League for Aston Villa, despite reaching the Carabao Cup final.

‘If you were to say to Dean Smith this could be the game to keep you in the Premier League, while you would lose the Carabao Cup final, despite being underdogs anyway, I think he would take it. And I think the majority of Villa fans would too.

‘A trophy is important to breed winners and confidence, and gain the credibility that Villa are back, but we have seen before that teams have won it and have gone down. The global interest is in the Premier League, so they have to go after it.

‘Meanwhile, Tottenham have not been convincing but are getting the results. They have to go after the top four, especially after the recent signings, chasing the likes of Sheffield United and Chelsea. It will be another cracking game of football here.’

Prediction: 2-3
