Charlie Nicholas predicts how Spurs will get on against Brighton

Who would have thought an early season game against Brighton would have become one of the most important matches of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign at Tottenham.

However, that is exactly how things have turned out as Tottenham desperately need to bounce back against the Seagulls after being humiliated 7-2 by Bayern Munich in midweek, in what was a historical low for the club.

Anything other than three points will do little to allay Spurs fans’ concerns after the capitulation on Tuesday.

Former Arsenal player Charles Nicholas has predicted Tottenham’s rough patch will continue as he thinks the spoils will be shared at the Amex Stadium tomorrow lunchtime.

Although the 57-year-old admitted that Graham Potter’s side have flattered to deceive so far this season, he claimed that Tottenham are currently there for the taking.

He insisted that the home side will cause a lot of problems for Pochettino’s men.

In his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas wrote: “What do we say about Tottenham? They produced a battling performance with 10 men against Southampton, but they are struggling, and Bayern ruthlessly picked them apart.

“Brighton on the other hand, if Leandro Trossard is fit, could cause problems. Unfortunately for Graham Potter, the results have not been overly impressive at Brighton.

“New managers do take time, but they can cause Spurs problems. Tottenham are there for the taking at the minute – there is no togetherness and Brighton could squeeze them in this.

“Prediction: 1-1.”

Spurs Web Opinion

After all that has been said and written about the Spurs squad and Pochettino over the last few days, I certainly expect them to marshal a response against Brighton on Saturday. However, with the team’s confidence running low at the moment, it will be hard for the players to recover if Brighton score first on Saturday.
