Chelsea boss says he would sign this Tottenham man over Kane

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has claimed he would rather sign Christian Eriksen over any other current Spurs player.

Tottenham and Chelsea face off in the late kick off today at Wembley, with the Blues looking to extend their unbeaten run, and Spurs looking to be the ones to end it.

Sarri acknowledged that Kane was the best English striker in the world, but still insisted Eriksen would be his choice.

The Great Dane only has 18 months left on his current deal, which runs out in the summer of 2020.

Tottenham will be desperate to sign him up to a more long-term deal before the likes of Chelsea come knocking for a bargain deal.

Spurs also have the likes of Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dembele, Llorente, and Vorm in the final year of their contracts.

Levy may be waiting to get the new stadium out of the way before turning his head to these new contracts.

The Evening Standard report Sarri said:  “Of course Harry Kane is the best English striker in the moment, so a very important player, but if I have to say another name, I like very much Eriksen.

“Why? Because he is a very smart player, a very technical player. He’s able to play in midfield and, at the same moment, score eight or nine goals in a season. I think that he is a very important player.

“I like him very much, but I don’t want to talk about a player of Tottenham for the market, of course. I only answered a (hypothetical) question.”
