Tottenham Hotspur could have competition to contend with from Chelsea after seeing an opening offer rejected this week.
Tottenham are looking to bolster their options at left-back this month, and have turned their attention to Souza, who had a breakout year in the Brazilian top-flight in 2025.
The Lilywhites’ opening £8m offer for the 19-year-old has been turned down, but they have not given up on the pursuit just yet.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham remain in talks over a deal for Souza, who is valued by Santos at £17m.

Tottenham could face competition from Chelsea for Santos
Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed on The Last Word on Spurs that the Brazilian club are actually demanding a total €30m (£26m) package for the teenager.
However, he explained that Santos are happy to accept around half of that fee initially and the remaining as add-ons.
More consequentially, Jacobs adds that Chelsea could also enter the race for Souza, with the West London club also having scouted the Brazilian.
A deal with add-ons may be beneficial for Spurs
There is always the risk in buying players from South America, as there is no guarantee that they are going to hit the expected heights in a top European league.
Tottenham Hotspur may not mind a deal based on performance or appearance-based add-ons, as if those are met, it means that the player has been a successful signing.
However, the big question is whether Spurs would be willing to pay €15m (£13m) or more initially for Souza, as that is considerably higher than their opening bid of £8m.
