Chelsea legend claims Stamford Bridge fans would love to sign Spurs star

Pat Nevin has admitted that Chelsea fans would love the opportunity to have Harry Kane at Stamford Bridge.

Kane has made it a habit of proving people wrong since becoming a regular in the Spurs first-team six years ago.

He has always had to deal with plenty of doubters the moment he goes off the boil for a game or two but predictably he always ends up eventually proving his class.

Things have been no different since the restart, with questions being raised about the 26-year-old’s ability to consistently score goals playing under Jose Mourinho’s system (Sky Sports).

The England captain has once again shown that he is a world-class finisher with his back to back braces against Newcastle and Leicester having taken his tally to over 20 goals this season, for the sixth season running (transfermarkt).

Reacting to his performance against Leicester, Nevin admitted that even Chelsea fans admire Kane despite there being no love lost between the two London rivals.

He urged the striker to leave Tottenham this summer and insisted that he will have no shortage of suitors.

Speaking to Off the Ball, the legendary Chelsea winger said: “Harry Kane, how unbelievable is he?.

“Chelsea and Spurs don’t like each other right. And I asked six Chelsea fans, ‘would you take Harry Kane? Would you love him? He’s a Spurs man’.

“Every hand is up. Every single hand is up! You would take him.

“The work rate is great as well. The attitude is brilliant. The intelligence and the movement, all of that is sort of great as well.

“But is it Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Manchester United, or Liverpool? He can make his choice and go anywhere he likes. If it’s going to be anything, it’s going to be this summer. It really should be.”

Pundits and fans of opposition clubs seem to veer in two different directions with Kane. The moment he fails to find the back of the net for a game or two, they question his quality and suggest that he is deteriorating.

When he goes through a hot patch and proves people wrong, suddenly he once again becomes too good for Spurs and gets advised to join Real Madrid or a Barcelona.
