Chelsea legend made comparison between Frank Lampard and Spurs star after West Ham win

Jose Mourinho got off to a winning start to his career as Tottenham manager as his side overcame West Ham 3-2 on Saturday at the London stadium. He then followed this up with a 4-2 victory over Olympiacos in the Champions League.

It was Tottenham’s first away win in the Premier League since January and a much-needed three points as it took Tottenham to the top half of the table for the first time in several weeks.

Many of Spurs’ stars who were underperforming under Pochettino for the last couple of months, put in fantastic displays for the side, seemingly buoyed by the managerial change.

Former Chelsea and West Ham United midfielder Joe Cole singled out two Spurs stars for praise for their displays on Saturday – Dele Alli and Serge Aurier.

While Alli was involved in the first two goals, Aurier provided the cross for Kane to head home the third.

Speaking to BT Sport (2:45pm, November 23, 2019), Cole said, “I can see so many parallels between Dele Alli and Frank, the way [Mourinho] speaks about Dele. And Dele’s interview was great as well because he said, ‘I don’t want to be the Dele Alli of two years ago, I want to be even better than that’.

“Credit to Aurier as well because he’s come in for a lot of stick because he has been terrible. But today, he was excellent and that’s the standard he has to play at every week.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Mourinho can get the likes of Alderweireld, Alli, Dier, and Aurier playing to their best, then there is no reason Spurs cannot still rescue the season and finish in the top four. Perhaps many of the players had become too lethargic under Pochettino and a change was needed to motivate them to give their all.
