Luka Modric - Tottenham Hotspur News

Andre Villas-Boas refuses to deny whether Chelsea will abandon their pursuit of Luka Modric.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp on Wednesday revealed Levy had contacted the Blues to reiterate there was no chance of them signing the Croatian playmaker.

He said: “I just have to speak to the owner (Roman Abramovich) when this kind of thing happens.

“When there’s an offer, there’s a counter-offer and then you reach an agreement.”

He added: “Modric’s name is already out too much in the press. Let’s leave it.

“He’s Harry Redknapp’s player. He’s not my player, unfortunately.”

  2. How could Villas-Boas innocent reply to a reporters open question be taken as Chelsea’s refusal to give up on Modric. Villas-Boas is by no means the decision maker at Chelsea neither is Redknapp at Spurs. Both have paymasters they must at all times report back to, namely their respective Chairmen. Therefore, Villas-Boas isn’t in any sort of position to make an assertive comment on another teams player.
