Chelsea star claims he loved what Spurs fans did to him on Sunday

Marcos Alonso has rubbed salt into Spurs fans’ wounds by insisting that he loved being booed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Spurs fans have no love lost for the Chelsea left-back, who is regularly on the receiving end of jeers when the sides meet.

The Spaniard has a very good record against the Lilywhites and while he did not manage to get on the scoresheet on Sunday, it was he who emerged victorious Chelsea won 3-0.

The result would have been hard to take for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, particularly after the dominant display they put in the first half.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s men asserted control after the interval and further strengthened their title credentials by clinically despatching their local rivals.

Alonso has now said that being on the received end of boos from Spurs fans motivates him to do better.

The 30-year-old told The Telegraph: “I love it! To be booed when you play away, it’s music to my ears.

“It might be because I have scored a few goals against them and I think they maybe have these memories in their head when I touch the ball, so yeah I love it.”
