Davies joined Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff at Spurs in June and has helped the Australian to adopt his brand of high-risk attacking football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Chris Davies is a wanted man once again

After Swansea City boss Michael Duff was sacked following a run of poor results last season, Davies has emerged as the leading contender to take the job having previously come close to a return to the Welsh side in the summer but decided to remain in N17.

Birmingham are in the market for a new manager to act as a successor to both Tony Mowbray and Gary Rowett who will play in League One next season following their relegation to the Championship.

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou has previously admitted that he would not stand in the way of Davies should he look to further his career elsewhere.

Postecoglou said back in December to the Evening Standard when asked about Davies’ future: “I’ve always been relaxed. “I have said in the past it is part of my role to develop staff and I am really proud of the fact a lot of the guys I’ve worked with, the reason they are not with me as assistants is because they are senior managers in their own right.

“If you are looking for things that will be disruptive, you can use that as a clutch or an excuse for anything. We lost Harry Kane the day before the season started so there is a disruption, we lost half the squad after one game so there is a disruption. There will always be this.

“You can’t work in a vacuum where everything is perfect and for me I have been relaxed in these kind of situations because I have always believed the environment will cover whatever challenges we have if we get it right.”
