‘Days are numbered’ – Chris Sutton suggests Spurs star has no future at club

Chris Sutton believes that Dele Alli’s time at Tottenham Hotspur is about to come to an end, sooner rather than later.

After initially struggling to get a look in under Antonio Conte, Alli was handed two starts over recent weeks. While the 25-year-old impressed in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool, he struggled to have much of an impact in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at St Mary’s last Tuesday.

Newcastle United and West Ham are both said to be showing interest in the Tottenham midfielder this month.

Some sources have suggested that Conte does not see Alli as part of his plans and Spurs are even willing to loan the midfielder out.

Former Spurs defender Michael Dawson insisted last week that he is sure the Tottenham head coach will want to keep the former MK Dons man around beyond the end of this month (Sky Sports News (1:54pm, December 26, 2021).

However, Sutton believes that the England international’s time at Tottenham has now appear to run out.

The former Celtic striker told BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 (01/01/22): “I think his days are numbered, in regards to his Tottenham career. I don’t know whether he has lost his hunger.”

I suspect Spurs will be open to cashing in on Dele should they receive a suitable offer for him. Even if Dele is not in Conte’s plans, Tottenham might be better of loaning him out this month rather than selling him. The 25-year-old’s value is quite low at the moment now but he could potentially double his value by having a decent six months out on loan.
