Chris Sutton predicts where Tottenham will finish in 2025/26 Premier League table

Tottenham Hotspur have just endured one of their worst Premier League campaigns in recent memory, but Chris Sutton believes next season could bring a significant turnaround.

The 2024/25 season is over, and for Tottenham Hotspur, their Premier League campaign is one they will want to forget.

Spurs ended their league season with a 4-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a result that marked their 22nd loss of the season – a club-record high.

The club also registered their worst ever league finish in the modern Premier League era, ending the season in 17th place on the table, just one spot above the relegation zone, and failing to hit the 40-point mark after managing only 38 points from 38 matches.

Chris Sutton backs Tottenham for Premier League top-six finish

It can only go up from here for Spurs, who will be desperate to improve their league performance next season – and Chris Sutton is “absolutely convinced” they will.

The football pundit, speaking on BBC 606, believes that Tottenham’s participation in the UEFA Champions League next season will be a major boost, after they earned their spot in Europe’s top competition by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final.

According to Sutton, both the prize money and the attraction of Champions League football will be crucial, particularly during the summer transfer window when Spurs will look to strengthen their squad.

“Because the winner – Champions League football, the money which comes with the Champions League,” said Sutton.

“The loser, it is a catastrophe because, you know, the lack of finance which they will get in.

“But the recruitment is going to be key for Manchester United over the summer.

“Same for Tottenham, but I am absolutely convinced Tottenham will finish in the top six next season.”

Europa League win hands Spurs transfer boost

Of course, Tottenham’s financial position has been significantly strengthened following their Europa League run, which saw them go deep into the competition, where they ultimately won it.

It has been revealed that Spurs earned a mouth-watering eight-figure sum from their exploits in the Europa League.

The club is also set to receive additional income from their participation in the UEFA Super Cup on 13 August, where they will face the winner of the UEFA Champions League.

Further revenue is expected to come during the Champions League campaign, as Spurs are guaranteed £16 million for making it into the UCL next season.

Indeed, the Lilywhites must build on their Europa League triumph by making astute signings in the summer window, if they are to maintain sustained success and improve on their poor 24/25 league campaign.
