Chris Sutton predicts who will win the Champions League tie between Spurs and RB Leipzig

Former Celtic and Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Sutton has shared his opinion following yesterday’s Champions League round of 16 draw.

Tottenham Hotspur managed to avoid some of European football’s big guns with Juventus, Barcelona and PSG having been potential opponents.

Instead, Spurs will square off against RB Leipzig. The German side finished top of their group ahead of Lyon and are also currently leading the Bundesliga after winning their last six league matches in a row.

Sutton believes that Spurs will fall at the first hurdle in the knockout stages after tipping Leipzig to progress to the quarter final.

Jose Mourinho’s side will play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first leg after finishing second to Bayern Munich in Group B on Wednesday 19th February before travelling to Germany for the second leg at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday 10th March.

Leipzig are coached by 32-year-old Julian Nagelsmann who was said to be on the managerial shortlist to replace Mauricio Pochettino (The Times).

Sutton told the Daily Mail: “How will Jose Mourinho set up against the surprise German league leaders? This is a talented young side under Nagelsmann. Sorry Jose, but I can see Leipzig knicking this.”
