Pundit reveals what he has heard about rumoured Spurs striker target

Chris Sutton has revealed that he has heard rumoured Tottenham target Danny Ings could join Manchester City or Manchester United this summer.

Ings has just 12 months left to run on his contract with Southampton and previous reports have claimed that Spurs could test Saints’ resolve with an offer this summer.

Spurs could certainly be in need of a top-quality striker, with Harry Kane’s future at the club having been said to be in doubt.

However, the North London club are rumoured to be interested in bringing Ings to the club to replace Carlos Vinicius as Kane’s main understudy even if the England captain stays.

Tottenham are not the only club who have their eyes on the former Liverpool star, with Manchester City also being linked with a move for the 28-year-old.

When asked about the speculation about his future last week, Ings chose to keep his cards close to his chest.

Sutton believes that the England international is on his way out of St Mary’s this summer but the former Celtic striker revealed that he heard that the Saints star is likely to join one of the Manchester clubs.

Sutton said BBC Radio 5 Live Sport: “There’s talk about Danny Ings leaving.

“He could end up at Manchester City or Manchester United.

“There are all sorts of rumours flooding around the Norfolk area, but that’s what I have heard.

“And how could they (Southampton) possibly replace him?”

Spurs Web Opinion

The only way I see us getting Ings is if we lose Kane this summer. I cannot see the 28-year-old coming to Spurs if the England captain stays as he will know that his opportunities will be limited.
