Christian Eriksen posts Instagram message after being left on the bench against Juve

Christian Eriksen has been the subject of much gossip this summer after he revealed his desire to leave Tottenham last month, stating that he wanted a step up and a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet).

This came after Spurs lost the Champions League final 2-0 to Liverpool in June, with neither team performing at their very best.

Eriksen has just one year left on his current contract at Spurs, leaving three feasible options for Daniel Levy, get a new contract signed, sell up, or let him leave on a free.

The latter of these would be a disaster for Spurs, as they would miss out on a hefty transfer fee for one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.

However, Eriksen was included in Tottenham’s pre-season tour squad last week and appeared on the bench against Juventus yesterday.

Despite 21 players featuring in the match, Eriksen was left as an unused substitute, but that could be down to his recovery from surgery (Sun).

Eriksen has since taken to Instagram to thank the fans in Singapore for their support, as well as including the Come On You Spurs hashtag.

Does this hint that the playmaker will be staying? Do you think he will sign a new contract?
