Former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen has revealed what he thinks about the Lilywhites’ decision to sack Thomas Frank.

The Frank experiment proved to be a disaster for Spurs, with the Dane finally being relieved of his duties last Tuesday after the club’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

The 52-year-old lasted only eight months in the job, but many Spurs fans feel that the decision to sack Frank should have been made much sooner.

The former Brentford boss had a troubled relationship with the Spurs fan base throughout his spell, with the Tottenham faithful never being entirely convinced by his style of play.

Christian Eriksen is disappointed by Tottenham’s Thomas Frank decision

Erisken worked with Frank for six months during his short stint at Brentford during the 2021-22 season, where the Denmark international excelled.

The former Spurs attacking midfielder confessed that he is disappointed at his compatriot’s exit N17, admitting that he had hoped that things would pan out differently.

When asked about Frank’s departure, Eriksen told Tipsbladet: “On behalf of Thomas, I am disappointed that it has turned out the way it has. I hope Thomas will be successful wherever he is.

“I had also hoped for Tottenham’s sake that they had been more successful. But of course, football moves so quickly, and when things don’t go well, the coach is out the door, and it didn’t exactly go Thomas’ way.”

The experienced midfielder, who left Man United to move to Wolfsburg last summer, was part of a Tottenham side that competed regularly for the biggest trophies in the game.

He admits that it is not a pleasant feeling to see his former club involved in a relegation battle this season.

When asked if it hurts to see Tottenham so far down the table, he responded: “Yes, definitely. I hope the club bounces back and does better than it is doing now. It’s still a club I follow closely.”
