Classy gesture from Jurgen Klopp to Pochettino at FIFA award ceremony

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino, had a superb season at the helm of the club last time out.

Not only did he secure yet another season of Champions League football for the club, but he also made it all the way to the final of the prestigious tournament.

Spurs threw up some of the most memorable matches in Champions League history when they beat Man City in the quarters and Ajax in the semi-finals.

Unfortunately, they fell at the final hurdle and lost to Liverpool 2-0 in the final in Madrid, with the Spurs warriors only able to pick up silver medals.

A few months on and Poch is still being recognised for his achievement with the squad, and rightly so.

The Argentine was named in the top three men’s coaches at the FIFA awards ceremony last night, losing out to Jurgen Klopp yet again.

However, the Liverpool boss had some classy words for Poch during his acceptance speech (Sky Sports): “Mauricio – we won that game. That’s why I’m here, not you.

“That’s how football is, but we all know what an incredible job you did, what an incredible job Pep did, what so many coaches out there did.

“I have to say thank you to my outstanding club Liverpool FC, to the owners, I have to say they gave me an incredible team, and I have to thank my team, because as a coach you only can be as good as your team is.

“I’m really proud of being the manager of such an incredible bunch of players.”
