Clive Allen claims Mourinho is ‘losing patience’ with Spurs star

Former Tottenham striker Clive Allen has claimed that Jose Mourinho is losing patience with Gareth Bale with the Welshman continuing to struggle following his return to Spurs.

Tottenham fans would have been hoping that Bale had found his form by now and established himself as a regular in the starting eleven.

However, the winger does not even look close to doing that and has largely been a peripheral figure so far this season.

After another poor display against Brighton late last month, Bale was left on the bench by Jose Mourinho for Tottenham’s clashes against Chelsea and West Brom.

The 31-year-old did not make the trip to Goodison Park for Tottenham’s FA Cup clash against Everton on Wednesday, with Mourinho admitting after the 5-4 loss that the on-loan Real Madrid star did not feel 100 per cent and wanted to work with the sports science team back at Hotspur Way.

Allen believes there are signs that Mourinho’s patience for the experienced wide man is now wearing thin.

He told talkSPORT: “You see [Mourinho] is losing his patience with Gareth.

“Everyone was excited when Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham, and Gareth’s body language was great as well. But it just hasn’t worked out.

“It’s not the Bale we knew. He hasn’t been able to find the consistency or form and hasn’t played enough minutes.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If there is truth to reports that it was Daniel Levy who pushed for the Welshman’s signing and Mourinho did not really want him, then I suspect that we will not see the Spurs boss defending the 31-year-old publicly for too much longer.
