Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Clive Allen believes that Dele Alli needs to leave the club on loan.
The midfielder has struggled for regular game time under Jose Mourinho this season having started just three matches in all competitions during the current campaign (transfermarkt).
His last start came in Thursday evening’s disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Royal Antwerp and was subsequently brought off by Mourinho at half time.
Allen claims that the England international is suffering from a lack of confidence and should be looking to head out on loan in January to rediscover his form.
Dele was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise despite reports that the French giants were prepared to offer a £3million fee to take him on loan (Daily Mail).
Tottenham return to Premier League action tomorrow evening when they host Brighton and it remains to be seen whether the former MK Dons man will make the match day squad after a frustrating campaign to date.
“He’s desperately short of confidence.”
“If Spurs are clever, they might loan him to a team where he could start to find form.”
“He probably has to move away from #THFC for a while to rediscover his undoubted talent.”
