‘Closed a deal’ – Boss reveals they are waiting for Spurs to sign new player

Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that the loan signing of Bryan Gil is 99 per cent complete and Valencia are now waiting for Tottenham to sign a replacement before sanctioning his departure.

The Athletic reported last week that Spurs are expected to sign a wide player or a number ten if Gil returns to Valencia on loan before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.

Spanish publication Cadena SER claimed late last week that such is the winger desire to return to the Mestalla, he is prepared to sacrifice €1m (£848,000) in wages.

The report added that the La Liga club expects the loan move to be completed before the transfer window slams shut.

Gattuso has now divulged that Spurs have informed Valencia that they are looking to sign a replacement for the 21-year-old.

He revealed that Los Che have been waiting for “two or three days” for the North London club to secure a signing so that Gil would be given the green light to travel to Spain.

The Italian said (via 90 min): “We have closed a deal for Bryan, Tottenham have told us that it is 99% done. We have been waiting for him for two or three days.

“Tottenham have told us that they have to sign a replacement so that he can travel. We are waiting for Tottenham to sign another player.”

As things stand, Spurs do not appear particularly close to signing any attacking player. It could also be a case of Tottenham waiting until the final few days of the transfer window in order to get the best price for the likes of Adama Traore and Ruslan Malinovsky, who both have just 12 months left on their respective contracts.
